Overview

Saudi Aramco is seeking an Intellectual Property (IP) Specialist to join the Technology Strategy & Planning Department (TS&PD). TS&PD provides critical and timely information and develops execution strategies to align company projects with value-driven deployments in high-impact areas, offering the company a significant, distinctive, and sustainable competitive advantage in its core businesses. TS&PD also assures that intellectual property planning and filings are coordinated with the ultimate objective of the technology strategy.

Position Description

The IP Management Specialist is responsible for supporting the development of Saudi Aramco’s Intellectual Property portfolio, including patents, copyrights, and trade secrets. This role involves analyzing invention disclosures, working with inventors and in-house IP counsels on patent prosecution activities, and performing patent research to support various IP activities. Experience in energy, chemicals, sustainability technologies, environmental engineering, or the heavy industrial sector is preferred but not required.

Key Responsibilities

As an Intellectual Property Specialist, your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the development, enhancement, and implementation of the Saudi Aramco IP strategy.
• Assisting inventors in obtaining appropriate protection for their inventions.
• Assessing the patentability of invention disclosures through prior art searches.
• Conducting competitive analysis of the patent and commercial product landscape, including IP mapping, IP risk management, and IP monitoring.
• Supporting in-house IP counsel with patent prosecution and related activities.
• Managing annuity payments, responding to annuity payment requests, and resolving related issues.
• Conducting IP awareness sessions and training programs.
• Contributing to the achievement of Saudi Aramco's IP-related goals.

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for this role, you must have:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related scientific field, with a Master’s degree in Intellectual Property preferred.
• At least 10 years of professional experience, including at least 5 years as a specialist in the IP field, with substantial recognition by peers as an expert.
